Thought it would be easier to just post rather than respond to comments.

No not my reunion year. My friend Amy (class of 04) is here for her sister's graduation and our mutual friend Laura (class of 11) are here so I decided to come up for the fun of it since it's actually very cheap from Philly on Amtrak. I registered class of '1776'.

Also, I disgaree about the dorms - I brought Julien with me for my 10 year 3 years ago and we were quite comfy and got plenty of sleep. The floor was mostly families with kids too.

This year I'm cheating - I'm staying with Laura who is a jr usher since her roomie is gone so I am only paying for meals 'cos Mom helped with my ticket.

Whee. On the train. An hour out from New Haven and the train switch. And goodness have they ever reduced the number and frequency of trains up to the Pioneer Valley. Pain. In. The. Ass.

Smooth ride so far though I hosed my Blackberry earlier downloading updates. Amy and Laura this means I don't have your phone numbers anymore 'cos my address book went BOOM.

Whoo. After a lot of tripping up and things going wrong yesterday, including a trip to the ER for Sabs that might have been an intestinal blockage and potentially life-threatening but is 'just' an umbilical hernia (still needs surgery but not in an emergency fashion and he will be fine), I am still green lights are go to head up to Northampton today.

I'm off on the 1:58pm train from Philly and should be arriving in the town of ye olde alma mater by 7:45pm tonight, courtesy of Amtrak and Peter Pan.

Anyone in the area, shoot me an email to beth.kelleher at and I'll get it on my Blackberry if you want to arrange a meetup.

Bostonians, I'm sorry but I ain't travelin' through Boston, but if you want to jaunt out to NoHo for the weekend, hey it'll be fun!

There are plans for drinking at Packard's and karaoke. And other hijinks.

I will be mostly AFK for the ENTIRE WEEKEND. That's right I am taking a real honest-to-goodness, NO KIDS included vacation.

See y'all on the flip side.

That so /totally/ rocked.
Awesome reboot.
Great story, great action, great performances. What a way to kick off the summer blockbuster season.

Dear Victor,

How time has flown. But I say that every time I write an entry on your birthday. Still there's something sobering about 7. It's the line to me between little kid and big kid and you really are getting to be a big kid.

You've grown so much this year, not just physically, but emotionally and mentally and through the dark curtain that can sometimes be pulled across your sunny nature by the demons that you struggle with, we can see the beautiful person that you are and just how really great you can be.

It's been a year of ups and downs, of really difficult times with very low lows but also increasing lifting up and reaching the top of hills to breathe in the air and feel the sun. You're doing so beautifully well in the TEACH program and your teachers and therapists are all impressed with your progress, even without medication.

You've gone from not being able to do any of your academic work in November due to distress, anxiety and inability to focus, to getting 100% on your spelling quizzes and dashing off homework sheets in 10 minutes.

You've gone from constant daily meltdowns to handling your emotions better and better all the time, to the point that sometimes you handle them better than even your mommy does. Your sweetness without that burden of anxiousness and anger is really starting to come through, be it from helping me carry groceries home or randomly bringing me a piece of toast yesterday when you knew I've had food poisoning and couldn't keep anything else down. Just because you thought I might be hungry.

There's still struggles to get through, but today is your birthday. Today you turn 7 and you're stepping into the big kid world in age, but really doing that on every other level too.

Happy birthday sweetheart.
May 7 be full of wonderful things for you.

Love, Mommy

Thank heavens. Heatwave over. Back to cool nights and warm days. Ahhh.

I'm really really sleep deprived due to work.

This too shall pass.

I'm melting. No seriously. It is not supposed to be this hot in /April/.
At least the storms are supposed to break the heat and bring spring back hopefully for the rest of May.

I am not liking having to have the a/c on at the end of April. No no no.

Heat like this just makes me /cranky/ and sleepy.

My 89 grandmother is going in for part one of two hip replacement surgeries today.
Good karma, prayers and hopeful thoughts much appreciated today.

Gram is one tough cookie and I sincerely hope this goes well so she can get back into her beloved garden without constant pain.

Gimme the original anytime.

The dude they have playing Cupid is just not Jeremy Piven. Not. Not.
And the chick isn't really doing it for me either.

*hugs cds of original series*

I just don't know about this whole drop of Julien and go to the library thing. Granted, it's the first day. I knew it probably wouldn't go perfectly.

But I blistered my left foot.
And I caught a chill from getting overheated/the nasty weather and I'm sitting here in the library shivering my ass off.

Someone tried to hijack Sabs' credit card this week. The card's been suspended as a result and he's trying to get that cleared up.

I also completely forgot about Amazon Prime and cancelling the free trial that I got signed up for eons ago and that charge came through and that was bad. Sabs is also looking at clearing that up.

The bank continues to hold my paychecks, which also never arrive on time, so paying the rent is going to be problematic again.

The upshot, we have $40 for the next week.

Sabs and I just strategized around food, here's what's on the list:

1) Loaf of white bread. This is mostly for Victor who won't eat wheat now, in spite of being raised with it by default since he was a baby, because it's 'dirty'.

2) Whole roasting chicken. We usually make the meat last 3-4 meals.

3) Eggs. For making things and also for one breakfast.

4) Milk.

5) Cereal. When we're running low on everything else, I eat cereal.

6) Apple sauce. For Julien's lunches and for the kids to snack on.

7) Bananas. For the boys to snack on.

To make things last, will need to keep a very close eye on the kids to keep them from eating everything in sight.

ETA: Thanks y'all for the generous offers, but we should be okay. Mom to the rescue.
I have but one thing to say about the finale:

We spent the day at Longwood Gardens today for Sabs' 37th birthday. The kids had a wonderful time and though it got really tiring at the end, it was a lovely day out in the spring sunshine enjoying the treehouses and the plants, the fresh air and the gorgeous conservatory.

My lungs have finally recovered enough for me to /really/ start the Couch to 5K program. So out I went at lunchtime today. Sadly, I couldn't even get through the first workout in the program. So I am starting out much, much more slowly and gently than even the gentle program.

For now, here's my regimen for this week at least. We'll see if I can do the Week 1 part of the program next week.

Walk briskly for 5 minutes from house to bottom of hill. Stop. Stretch.
Jog the other street in the 'development' (it's flat)
Start walking on the downslope to home, walk the rest of the way home.

Maybe next week I'll walk all the way over to the park so I can use the trail. Go up the trail one way, come back, walk back home. It's a 15 minute walk all by itself just to get to either of the trails/tracks I can use.

I could theoretically, walk over to the track at the high school in a quarter of an hour, run for half an hour, then walk back and still get it in in my lunch hour.

Okay. I've really really had it.

Now that all of the issues with the basement are resolved, this weekend there will be a MAJOR push to clean up, by gum, because I am /sick and tired/ of not being able to find underwear and socks first thing in the morning when we need them and consequently risking lateness to various schools.

Grr. Argh. Laundry ahoy!
